50 Pieces - 10-12" Natural Iridescent Green Peacock Tail Eye Wholesale Feathers (Bulk)

Fantastic peacock eyes at a fair price.

[Moonlight Feather asked me to provide a review.] I purchased qty 5 of 50 piece peacock tail feathers, bulk, 10-12", SKU 1313. While this bulk package of peacock tail feathers seems like a good price, and the on-line catalog image would make you think you’ll get a high-quality product, you’ll be disappointed. Upon receipt I opened one package and I steamed each feather so they opened up to their full glory, removing any kinks and bends set in by the storage and shipping processes. I found only 32% were Grade B or better (usable), 46% were Grade B- or Grade C (marginal or not usable as I had planned), and 22% were scrap. Once can assume similar quality distribution in each package of 50 or larger bulk packages. At this low yield at the sale price, this product is $0.97 per usable feather. Save your money and consider product SKU 324, 10 Pieces - 10-12" Big Eye Natural Iridescent Green Peacock Tail Eye Feathers – if you believe the description of "hand-picked", which if 100% as described, are $0.90 per usable feather. Or look elsewhere. [I consider Grade B to have with eyes 2” across, longer length herls (barbs) with dense longer barbules, and the herls are spaced closely on the rachis. Few to no missing herls, few to no damaged herls in the upper 2/3 of the feather ("upper" referring to toward the eye end of the feather). Grade C has small eyes (under 1 1/2" across), a "scrawny" appearance with shorter length herls, and herls spaced further apart on the rachis. Some missing and/or damaged herls (broken tips, missing barbules) in the upper 2/3 of the feather. Scrap is anything worse than Grade C (e.g. “very scrawny" appearance with extremely shorter length barbules on the herls, and/or more damaged herls, and larger gaps between herls).] The website is clear that Moonlight Feather has a terrible return policy for bulk products (50% refund, max). When I emailed customer service about the quality and to see if they could come up with a more generous return policy for the 4 unopened packages, they never answered (been 8 days – admittedly there was a weekend and a holiday). Caveat emptor.

The peacock feathers were delivered quickly. I had ordered them for my wedding and they arrived so fast I was worried about storing them. But I simply put them in a paper bag and loosely covered them to protect from dust; it has been several weeks now and they still look pristine. Most of them look absolutely beautiful, but I would estimate about 10-20% of them are a little thin and spindly. For the price, it was an excellent buy, I just recommend that you keep this in mind so if you need 50 perfect feathers, maybe opt for a bigger quantity. Ultimately, I am glad I purchased from moonlightfeather and I think the feathers will look lovely for my wedding. If I ever need feathers again, moonlightfeather is the first place I am looking.

very impressed with the peacock eyes nice and slender will make great toppings on trout streamers imitations and also Atlantic salmon flies the quality is great.thank you
