High Fashion to Street Fashion

Ever watch The Devil Wears Prada? Do you remember that one
scene between Meryl Streep and Anne Hathaway when Streep’s character coldly
lays down the significance of high fashion
to an ill-informed, cerulean sweater wearing new co-assistant? I’m reminded of
such dialogue this Friday morning. The Moonlight Feather office is in an
absolute whirlwind of activity because of the indoor photo shoot happening
today. And besides running the various
errands and tasks for the photo shoot now and then, I am still here at my own
desk, typing out the daily blog in between assisting customers who give us a
kind call by phone. From my desk I get a glimpse of Janna and Angelica, the
lovely and wonderful models, as they walk by completely dressed up as well as
completely feathered out. The models are dressed to look like beautiful walking
pieces of modern art and, I wonder, could that be what high fashion is?
Wearable Art?
Of course not all high fashion pieces are created with the
intention for anywhere but the runway or perhaps the artistic pages of a
fashion forward magazine. This is when I am reminded of The Devil Wears Prada
scene. I think of the art that fashion designers put forth, some are intended
for “basic” wear but some are intended for nothing but the existence of the piece
itself, a piece of beauty to delight and inspire the world. Isn’t that what the
fictitious character Miranda Priestly highlighted during the scene? That the original
masterpiece of high fashion eventually becomes reinterpreted over and over
until the essence is mimicked for a clothing article that is sensible and convenient
enough for basic wear?
I think about how Moonlight Feather, as a fashion forward
company, has made its own interpretation to fashion and I also think about the
presence and significance of feathers, in general, to current fashion. The essence
of feathers is romantic, wispy, and classical. The color, type, and style can
be decidedly selected to create soft looks, fierce looks, bohemian looks, high
style looks, etc. Handcrafted with only the finest quality of materials,
Moonlight Feather’s interpretation to the current fashion of feathers can be
seen in our Handmade Accessories. We are also rolling out with so much new
product for 2012, be on the lookout for a lot of new Moonlight Feather quality
products coming soon!
