Warm Metal Trend
Copper is In! Have you ever had a brand new penny? Did you notice how it shined with all its copper brilliance and seemed so new and unadulterated? Usually we come into contact with pennies on an everyday basis, whether we use them at the grocery store or pass over them in the parking lot. Normally they don’t require much thought. But a fresh from the mint penny always gets a second look. Even though this mere one cent coin isn't valued as highly as any of its silver colored counterparts, something about the copper color seems more special and definitely unique. Fashion designers have taken notice of the penny and used its brilliance as inspiration for many hot new trends.
Liven up your wardrobe with copper… Accessories- Copper has always been a sought after metal, but now it can be found in items that aren't metallic at all. From copper colored natural rooster feathers to the natural copper highlights that are present on peacock feathers, the precious amber hue can be worn in a soft new way. So whether you chose to wear amber hair feather extensions or to purchase earrings, necklaces and bracelets in copper tones, you can easily update your summer look. We love this peacock feather earring from Montaigne Market. Shoes- Silver and gold are no longer the shining stars when it comes to metallic shoes. Wear copper colored pumps for classy look. Match this shoe from Topshop with over the top peacock feather skirt we found by Matthew Williamson. Polish- Apply a few coats of copper polish to nails this summer for a cool effect. Your nails will catch everyone’s eye and will glitter in the sun’s rays. We love nail polish from Deborah Lippman for their perfect tone and bling! Makeup- Sun kissed skin is a sure sign that summer has arrived. Dress up your makeup routine by incorporating copper shades. Copper eye shadow by Laura Mercier can draw attention to your lids and a copper bronzer will give your cheeks a natural tanned appearance. Glide on eye shadow pencil from Urban Decay is another great option. You can use it as eye shadow and eyeliner, whichever you prefer! Posted by
Justin Quan on 5/14/2013
Summer is right around the corner, once again, which means it’s time to pump up the beach ball and pool floats, and get ready for the heat. Among the many ways women find to stay cool in summer one is to incorporate a change in hair. Lightening up raven locks or even adding caramel tones to brunette tresses will instantly allow your trademark look to be transformed to be more summer appropriate.
Follow these 5 steps to get your summer hair…
Photo Credit : Bellamumma , Regal Rose , Howellings , Lauren Conrad Lighter Overall Color - If you are ready for a color change, don’t try to self-apply dye from a box, visit your favorite hair stylist to professionally lighten your hair. Whether you want to subtly lighten color by a shade or two or want a drastic change from brunette to platinum, you will be glad you spent the money to get your hair skillfully colored. Highlights - You may not be comfortable with a new overall hair color, if so, highlights may be the perfect solution. Not only do highlights accent base colors, they also can give hair a sun-kissed appearance. Have highlights placed around the face and in a few gradient shades to make your summer hair look most natural. Hair Feathers - Vacations from school and work will soon begin which means that it is time to cut loose and catch up on the latest hair trends. Wearing hair feather extensions will instantly and effortlessly transform your hair. Choose peacock feathers or brightly colored plumes to weave a splash of color into your locks. Chic Haircut- Taking off a few inches is a great way to stay cool in the heat of summer. Get hair cut into a sleek a-line bob, or a fun layered cut that will accent wavy beach hair. A straight or textured bang will also frame the face. Braids - Nothing is hotter this summer than incorporating a cool fish tail braid. A chunky side braid is ideal for daytime summer fun and a braided updo is romantic and suitable for night. Mother’s Day Crafts
Last Minute Mother's Day gift Mother’s Day is almost here…but there is still time to create for her something special. Don’t make a last minute run to the store to purchase a gift, show Mom you care by making her a thoughtful gift. You don’t have to spend a fortune, and with a little help from your local craft supply store you can make her a present that she will be proud of.
Photo Credit : Trinkets in Bloom Feather Earrings- Feathers are in style and Mom has every right to be too! Visit your local craft supply store or online feather supplier to purchase beautiful feathers. Try ostrich feathers or stripped rooster feathers for an everyday earring or a pair of peacock feathers to make special occasion earrings. Purchase earring hooks and jewelry wire to assemble a beautiful pair of earrings that Mom will enjoy. Check out this tutorial by Trinkets in Bloom on how to make a cool but simple feather earring! Framed Photograph Art- Make signs with loving phrases on them such as “We love you,” or even print off sheets of paper with one letter per page on it such as “L-O-V-E.” Take a photograph of each child holding a lettered paper. Print off photographs and place in a frame with as many picture inserts as kids in the family. Wrap and frame for a gift that Mom will cherish all year long. Entry Way Key Holder- Help Mom get out the door sooner each morning…not to mention stress free with this key holder. She will no longer need to rush around the house scouring every nook and cranny in search of her keys. Take a photo of your family and place it in a nice frame (5x7 is a great size). Purchase four small screw-in hooks to drill into the bottom of the frame at evenly spaced distances. Hang the frame in the entry way and mom will have a beautiful place to store her keys. When all else fails and time or money is too short, a beautiful hand written card will suffice. You could get creative by making a coupon book to show Mom you care (promise to help out with the chores, or give her a back massage.) The important thing is to show Mom that she is appreciated.

From Feather to Featherbulous
I stumbled upon some blogs the other day and I have to say, I am amazed by the creative ways you can turn a feather into featherbulous. There are many ways you can alter feathers. You can strip, cut, dye, paint, modpodge , stitch and put glitter on them. I found 3 blogs that do exactly that and wanted to share it with you guys.
DIY: Love Struck PencilsYou can find the tutorial here. Basically you use one of our imitation eagle feathers and slice them into half and cut them in an angle. Finally you glue them onto the pencil and viola! You have the cutest arrow pencil ever!
Collar Con Plumas Although this tutorial is not in English, you can kinda understand how to make them just by looking at the pictures. Instead of using glitter (like most of the tutorials out there) she used chunkier materials that add the shine you need to make a statement necklace. All you need is some turkey t-base feathers and trim them so you end up just having the flat part of the feathers. You can use white glue or mod podge to stick the embellishment onto the feathers and let it dry. Try making them into earrings too!
DIY Gilded Feathers This tutorial is from one of my favorite bloggers - Mom's Crafty Space. Instead of using spray paint she used gold and silver
liquid gilding by Martha Steward on the feathers. The blogger use some duck
feathers for this project. If you want to paint feathers it is better to use
quill feathers instead of body feathers so they maintain their feather shape after you paint them.
So if you have some cool projects do share it with us! Like us on Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/mlfeather Follow us on Twitter: https://www.twitter.com/mlfeather

Patio-Perfect this summer!
Stylize your Backyard for Special Occasions
Do you have an upcoming outdoor gala? If you are hosting a dinner party or even a wedding reception there are a few ways to pack style and impact into every nook of your patio. With proper seating, and a good balance of weather resistant materials paired with decorations and items typically found inside the home, you will create a beautiful atmosphere for your guests to enjoy.
Pictured by : One Hand Spun Day , Style Me Pretty , Somewhere Splendid , Mochatini , Feather by Moonlight Feather Seating- The first item that needs to be attended to when preparing for a backyard party, is seating. Depending on your needs it is important to decide on if you will require tables and chairs or various outdoor lounges. The more seating options you can give guests the better. Setting up seating configurations much like a living room will create an ideal scenario for conversation and comfort. Lighting- Aside from seating, lighting is the next most important item. It can be both functional to light up a space according to its needs: illuminating food, creating dance floor ambiance, or drawing attention to important backyard details. The most successful usage of lights would be to use multiple types. Wrap trees with white string lights, use bulb lighting for overhead illumination, and add candles to tabletops. Material- In an attempt to marry the indoors with the out, incorporate multiple materials. For long-term decorating, purchase sturdy, weather resistant throw pillows, umbrellas, and rugs. If you are merely keeping decorations up for a one night festivity, materials can be more delicate. You may choose to bring in cotton chair covers, lace table cloths, and wooden place mats to offset the cold concrete surface of the patio. Embellishments- An eclectic balance of old and new items will make your freshly created setting appear as if it is an extension of your home. This will produce a seemingly effortless atmosphere that will be both cozy and elegant. Place up-cycled glass bottles filled with ostrich feathers or peacock feathers on tables as centerpieces. Thrift store plates and tea cups will make for one-of-a-kind place settings for each guest. Experiment until you create a space that you are proud of and that your guests will enjoy.

Break Out of Your Own Shadow
Do you ever get tired of your routine, your old sense of style or makeup application? It is difficult to reinvent yourself when you are surrounded by the same friends and coworkers. People come to expect the “norm” that we offer. Our usual hairstyle, lip color and wardrobe options, although lacking in style, come to represent our appearance. People feel uncomfortable when trying out a new trend in their social group due to others making a scene as they remark on our new found fashion sense.
Leave their expectations behind and ditch your old comfort zone in an effort to break out of your own shadow. Create your new self today by following these tips:
Smarter Life Choices - Whether it be exercise or healthy eating habits that need to be incorporated into your daily life or unhealthy habits such as smoking or excessive drinking that could be cut out of a routine, you can redefine yourself by making important changes. You will feel better about your newly adopted habits and the people in your circle will take notice too. Perhaps instead of being the friend that always is available to grab a fast food burger or a smoke with, you can begin to inspire others to adopt new healthy habits as well.
Make Up, Hair & Beauty - Ditching an outdated beauty routine can definitely be liberating. The daily application of the same products year after year will leave you at a creative loss. Shake up your makeup to redefine your face this year. Purchase new products and watch makeup tutorials to learn how to effectively apply makeup for your face shape and complexion. For hair that remains a constant throughout time try new trends to refresh your locks. A color and cut can work wonders on your confidence and style, but if you are interested in a more temporary option to experiment with purchase hair feathers. These feather extensions come in many colors and are easily applied and reusable. For a subtle change opt for neutral colored rooster and hen feathers to test out the trend.

Clothes - One of the most impactful items to change in an effort to redefine one’s style is clothing. Learning how to purchase clothes that are flattering in color and shape while being current with style can be a real chore. Many women lose heart when they try on a few outfits without feeling confident and beautiful. It may take time, but explore what the stores have to offer, do magazine research and the biggest tip to picking out new clothes is trial and error. It may take time but once you find clothes that cause you feel and look great you will become inspired with confidence.

Fabulous Feather Dress
It’s almost time again for pastels and tulips to reign. Weather is getting warmer.and that means it’s time to hunt for pretty spring dress for your special little girl. Sure, many stores offer adorable sun dresses and fancy tulle enhanced items that are appropriate for the holiday, but you don’t have to settle with an off the rack item that falls short of your expectations. With minor sewing skills and an ostrich feather you can take the dress to a whole new level of fabulousness.
You will need: A dress Sewing machine/ Needle and thread Feather Boa Instructions:
1. Once you have found the cutest dress available for your little princess, purchase a feather boa made from either turkey feathers, ostrich feathers, or rooster feathers. Be sure to choose one that’s colors compliment her dress.
2. Beginning in the center back of the dress at the bottom hem, begin sewing the boa to the dress using a matching colored thread.
3. Continue to sew the feathered boa all the way around the dress using tight stitches (Be sure to create firm stitches, once your girl feels how soft the feathers are she will be touching them constantly and you won’t want the boa to come loose.)
4. Once you reach your starting point you may trim the boa to the proper length and finish the last securing stitches.
Now your little girl will be picture perfect for spring. This is such a simple addition, yet makes a big style impact. Even with a store bought dress that likely hundreds of other girls will wear too, your girl’s dress will be a one of a kind creation.
* Use this technique to make your daughter a special birthday, recital, or portrait dress as well. Just change the color of the boa to compliment the dress and occasion.
*You can use any leftover boa sections to make a matching hair accessory or to weave around her purse to create a cohesive look.

With the Latest In Feather Trends
Feathers have not lost their traction on the fashion scene. You may have caught on to the feather trend to find that the nature inspired prints, or soft feathered plumes are feminine and stylish accents to any wardrobe choice. This spring is the perfect season to add a touch of whimsy to your everyday style with feathers.
Of course pastels have become adopted as spring’s must have shades of color. Tiffany Blue, robin’s egg blue, rose petal peach and lemony yellow are among the top colors to wear this season and virtually every clothing store has garment options in these popular colors. The two most popular spring trends, feathers and pastels, have merged this season to create the perfect marriage of grace and sweetness.
Top 5 ways to incorporate Feathers into your style this spring…
Earrings- The simplest way to add a splash of fun and texture into an outfit is with the addition of a pair of earrings. There are various options for feather earrings…you could opt for a natural single chicken feather or spotted guinea feather, or you could choose a metal feather print that has been painted with a thin glaze of pastel paint.
Necklace- Collar necklaces were very popular in 2012 with their chunky addition of undeniable chicness. This spring opt for lengthy chain necklaces that fall just above the belt line with feather accents or metal charms.
Skirt- With so many fun feather prints out this season you could incorporate the feather trend in a subtle manner. Purchase a comfortable cotton A-line pastel skirt with a repeating feather patterned print.
Dress- Nothing says feminine much like a dress, especially a pastel colored number that also has soft and flowing ostrich feathers attached. For a perfect spring look purchase a peach or pink knee length dress that is fitted on the top portion and has a feathered bottom half. As you get on with your day’s schedule you will look inspired and refreshed.
Shirt- You may not want to go head to toe in feathers this spring, but that doesn't mean you can’t fit them into your wardrobe. Wear a blouse that has a simple feather embroidered neckline or design.

Fun Spring DIY For Kids
Some families go on vacation, and others stay home and enjoy the time off from work and school with family and friends. What will you do when spring vacation arrives? Well, we have a fun craft that will keep those kids occupied while creating a beautiful craft that everyone can enjoy. This spring create a one of a kind birds nest complete with painted “eggs.”
You will need: 1 Inexpensive basket approx. 8” diameter (with no handle) Glue Acrylic Paint & Brushes Circular or Egg shaped Rocks Glitter Permanent marker
Instructions:
1. Once you have obtained all of the materials, begin to line the inner bowl of the basket “nest” with your choice of feathers. You may use yellow feathers for a whimsical appearance or for a more natural look you could use spotted guinea feathers. Place a layer of glue on the basket and line with feathers. Cover the inside of the basket completely with feathers and let some of the feathers extend approximately 1” over the top of the nest.
2. While the feathers dry securely to the basket, invite your children to paint their rocks just like they would Easter eggs. Pastel Acrylic paints will work best.
3. Before the paint dries completely on the “eggs,” sprinkle them with glitter, or for a completely sparkly egg, roll the egg in the glitter.
4. Once the eggs have dried, each child may sign their name to their egg with a permanent marker. Your child may add a painted egg each year to their basket as a keepsake, or you may choose to give the nest to a family member as a spring gift.

Fabulous Feathers
You’re planning for wedding day and you want it to be memorable. Great! Who doesn't want their wedding day to be special and leave lasting and special memories for your partner and for your visitors as well? If you want to move away from the typical wedding motif and explore other fancy and elegant options that will have the “wow” effect for your special day, using feathers to beautify your wedding should be something you ought to consider. Here are some fancy ideas you and your partner can tell your wedding planner to try out:

Feathers for Bride and Groom – If you have a wedding planner and designer and you have planned for a bird or angel motif, you can definitely explore your options and be creative in adding feathers in the bride’s wedding dress and accessories. A good idea is to use ostrich feathers in decorating the bride’s shoes. There won’t be a lot of shoes that have this special design, so your planner and decorator will have to work on this. Using the same or similar color patterns, add some feathers in the groom’s boutonnieres to complete the look you are aiming for.
Feathers as Hair Extensions and Dress Adornment - You can also add pheasant feathers as feather hair extensions for the bride and also some cute peacock feathers for the flower girls. Properly design the feather’s color to match the overall theme of your wedding and if it blends perfectly, then expect a whole bunch of ‘wow’s’ and ‘ah’s’ from your visitors.
Feathers Down The Aisle – Another great idea is give feathers to your flower girl and let her sprinkle feathers as she walks down the aisle, preparing the way for the bride. You can use duck and turkey feathers here and add some confetti made from shiny paper to add more fun to the idea. Your flower girl will enjoy throwing those feathers in the air and you’ll the love ambiance it gives, as the bride walks on feathers down the road to her waiting groom. Looks like a scene from some fairy tale, wouldn't you agree? If you think these ideas are great, talk about adding it or using feathers as your overall theme. Feathers remind us of birds and are associated to nature and purity. Also, angels come into mind when we see feathers and this can give your wedding day that special cathartic feel you and your visitors will surely adore and remember.

Cool Easter Decorating Ideas

Make it fun this Easter with some money saving tips!
Some people decorate for every holiday. You may have seen people with their front lawns completely adorned with Christmas lights and candy canes, pumpkins and witches and at Easter wooden bunny lawn stakes. If you are one that loves to deck out your house, or you just want to show some respect for the upcoming holiday we have some Easter decorating ideas that are simple and inexpensive. These decorations can be modified whether you decide to only choose a few to decorate or you make multiples to maximize the festivities at your spring get-together.
Plastic Egg in a Vase Plastic eggs are inexpensive and reusable, although for many parents storing the eggs each year is a burden that is easily avoidable by simply throwing them out or offering empty eggs to accept party guests each year. By creating a decorative use for eggs, we can recycle them. Most people have one or various clear glass vases in varying sizes from previous flower deliveries or arrangements. We can put those vases on display a few weeks before Easter each year and remove from storage last years plastic eggs. Arrange eggs in vases on top of some sand and add some branches with turkey feathers to create colorful tabletop decorations. Place one or many on tables to create lunch centerpieces or welcoming decorations very inexpensivelyor free, if you like to recycle.
Yellow feathers in a Vase Baby chicks are usually associated with Easter. As an inexpensive Easter display buy yellow craft feathers to fill clear glass vases with. Purchase feathers wholesale to create multiple displays for a large gathering or multiple feathered arrangements. You could also offer a prize to the guest at an Easter party that guesses closest to the number of feathers in your vase. Not only is this a decoration, but a guessing game opportunity.
Feathered Easter Baskets Easter baskets are often reused each year, but only for about an hour then they are put back into the garage to collect dust and spider webs until Easter arrives again. Get a few weeks out of your childrens Easter basket next year by taking it out a couple of weeks before the holiday and placing it on display near a fireplace or as a tabletop decoration. Baskets could be practical decorations if you use them to hold magazines or fruit.
Easter Egg Wreath It seems that every year we are left with mismatched Easter eggs. Some halves have broken partnering pieces and others get lost. Instead of throwing away those mismatched eggs create a beautiful and inexpensive wreath. Glue plastic egg halves to a Styrofoam or wooden wreath. These simple displays can placed on doors and be welcoming to guests. Get creative and stretch more use out of items you will purchase anyway by recycling and finding uses for items used only once a year.

Color Blocking
Color Blocking Art in style & Clothing
Color Blocking is a recent trend that appears to draw as much attention as an Andy Warhol piece of art. Bold colors, flashy prints and attention grabbing outfits depict much of what makes this color blocking trend popular. The best way to wear this trend is to put aside all of your past apprehensions when it comes to dressing for the day. Instead of pairing a color with a neutral, colors are being paired with other colors. A red skirt has found its perfect match with a pink top. Navy blouses and sea foam green skinny jeans are a match made in color blocking heaven. Be creative and let your inner trend setter shine by sporting the latest fashions in color.
Although, most of the fashion world has increased the drama on this trend by marketing dresses and pant suit jumpers with loud patterns and bold blocks of color, there are ways to create the look without spending a bundle on designer brands. Check out how to incorporate this trend into your weekly fashion routine.
Hair Feathers- Dying hair a bold color is not necessary to submit to the color trend. Applying the also trendy feather hair extensions is a fun way to incorporate color temporarily into your hair. Staying true to alternating bold colors will surely draw attention to your locks while staying on par with the latest fashion. Dyed rooster feathers will look the best when colors are kept in the same family and when their application is focused on no more than two colors. Red and pink, yellow and gold, and royal blue with turquoise feathers are the best color pairings.
Make Up- Using your face as a blank canvas can be a fun way to incorporate this trend. Play up your eyes with a dark green liner, navy eye shadow and black mascara. Cheeks can be kept a dewy shade of peach or pink and lips will attract attention when painted a fiery red shade. To keep from looking clownish in appearance limit which features you choose to emphasize. If you go bold on the eyes keep the rest of your features simple and natural.
Polish- One fun thing about being a girl is being able to express yourself through experimentation. Ditch the single color polish on nails and toenails and adopt the color blocking trend. Bold colors such as navy, black, red, fuchsia, and green are great colors to use. Paint each nail a different color or create a pattern on nails in opposite colors such as red and pink.

Cut Costs with these DIY Tips
Weddings are the perfect opportunity to show your guests your sense of style. With all of the details that go into weddings there is a strong likelihood of going over budget before the last detail is accounted for. Save money on your upcoming wedding while incorporating personalized touches into your special day.
Bird Cage Card Holder Presents are an expected gratuity at any wedding. The bride and groom are welcomed into their new life together with gestures of pots and pans and towels from adoring guests. There is even a separate table set aside at weddings specifically to hold the appreciated gifts…but what about all the guests that bring money or gift cards solely in envelopes. Those slim gifts can get misplaced very easily without creating a special holder for cards. This spring purchase a beautiful bird cage that you can devote to the treasured envelopes. Be sure the opening or door is large enough to fit a wedding card through without bending it. Embellish the top of the cage with bird and craft feathers and a satin over sized flower to give the card holder a polished, wedding worthy appearance.
Bridal Hair Accessories With so many details that go hand in hand with a wedding and the expenses that come with them, the bride’s hair accessory is one cost that can be greatly reduced if you fashion one yourself. Bridal boutiques offer beautiful accessories for the wedding day, but they come with outrageous purchase prices. You can easily create your own hair accessory by visiting your local craft supply store. You will find clips and headbands that can be transformed with the addition of goose feathers or ostrich feathers, white netting, and fabric flowers with pearl or rhinestone centers. Be sure to attach each piece securely to keep the accessory intact throughout the ceremony, pictures, reception, and dancing.
Floral Arrangements Flowers are a substantial expense when it comes to weddings. Most people spend more on flowers for this one day than they will for all the bouquets that they will purchase for the rest of their lives. Don’t let your centerpieces, boutonnieres, and arrangements break the bank this spring. You can purchase your favorite flowers at a wholesale dealer or order in bulk online. Add spotted guinea feathers to the homemade arrangements to add flare and texture. You may purchase feathers wholesale to cut back on costs even further. These one of a kind arrangements will be beautiful, unique and will save you money that can better be spent on your honeymoon.
