DIY: Etsy Inspired Delicate Feather Earrings

Browsing through Etsy we were taken aback by all the
stunning handmade feather earrings. We wanted to show you how to create your
own customizable ones from home with just a few supplies and a few minutes!
Supplies you’ll need:
-Fishhook earring loops
-Cord end caps
-String or thread
-Scissors
-Small needle nose pliers
-Natural White Laced Medium Rooster Cape Feathers
-Peacock Green Laced Medium Rooster Cape Feathers
-Brown Grizzly Rooster Fluff Feathers
-Golden Yellow Reeves Venery Pheasant Plumage Feathers
Step 1:
Taking one of each of the longer rooster cape feathers first, layer a brown rooster fluff feather and a golden yellow pheasant feather on the very top, forming a small stack.
Step 2:
Taking the bunch of layered feathers, cut a 3-4” piece of string or thread and tie a knot close to the quill tips of the feather stack. Tie it tightly, and then tightly wrap some of the thread ends around the quill tips several times, finishing it off with another tight knot. Trim the ends of the string very short so they will not stick out under the end caps.
Step 3:
Take a cord end cap and place it onto the quill tip section that you just tied together. You want the end cap to cover the string and the tips of the feathers so your earring has a neat appearance. Using your needle nose pliers, clamp down tightly on the end cap to close it around the feathers.
Step 4:
Grab a fishhook earring loop and open the end loop using your pliers. Link the earring loop onto the hole that is attached to the end cap and close it up with the pliers. Follow these steps to create a matching one and you have a beautiful pair of lightweight, feather earrings!
