Halloween Feather Trees
These feather trees are easy decorations to create in multiple sizes to help your home get into the Halloween spirit! The fluffy texture of the feathers adds a whimsical touch and the classic colors will be sure to add festivity! You only need a handful of supplies and a little bit of time to make them, so let’s get started!
Supplies needed:
-Black Turkey T-Base Plumage Feathers
-Orange Turkey T-Base Plumage Feathers
-Chartreuse Turkey T-Base Plumage Feathers
-Hot glue
-Glue gun
-Craft foam cones in various sizes
Step 1:
Get your feathers ready! For these trees, they are going to be mostly black with some orange and green sprinkled in. Since the turkey t-base feathers come in packs containing various sizes of feathers, it’s good to lay them out so you can alternate larger ones and smaller ones! This will give your trees a nice, natural textured look. Make a large pile of black feathers, and 2 small piles of each orange and green.
Step 2:
Plug in your glue gun and start attaching feathers at the base of the foam cone. You want it to be able to stand upright evenly while making sure the feathers will be able to cover the cone nicely, so start gluing about a half inch above the bottom of the cone. Use a couple drops of glue and then press the quill tip of the feather into the glue, holding the bottom until it has dried enough to not slide out of place. Repeat all the way around the base with mostly black feathers, sprinkling in a couple orange and green ones along the way.
Step 3:
Keep gluing the feathers layer by layer all the way up the cone! Remember to sprinkle in the colored feathers in staggered places so that they pop around all the black. As you get more towards the top, start to use some of the shorter feathers so that your tree has an even appearance that matches the shape and slope of the cone.
Step 4:
Let all the glue dry and then inspect your tree! Fill in any sparse looking areas with extra feathers so the whole thing is full and fluffy! Repeat the process with each of your foam cones and then put them on display! You are all done!
