This project is a fun accessory for people of all ages and sizes! Wear it at a themed birthday party or this upcoming Halloween, or to your next music festival! It’s a feather and leather crown, and the best part is that you only need 4 supplies to create it yourself. A variety of feathers adds unique patterns and colors too! Grab your supplies and follow along.

Supplies you’ll need:

-Strip of brown leather (8” long by ½” wide for kid’s size or 10” long by 2” wide for adult size)

-Brown or black suede chord

-Scissors

-Hot glue and glue gun or super glue

-Natural Silver Pheasant Plumage Feathers

-Natural Polka Dot Guinea Fowl Wing Quills Feathers

-Natural Reeves Venery Pheasant Tail Feathers 6-8”

-Brown Reeves Venery Pheasant Plumage Loose Feathers

-Iridescent Blue Mix Mallard Duck Wing Feathers

Step 1:

Grab your suede and measure out 2 pieces of equal length. They should be around 6” for a kid size or 8” for adult size. You may need to adjust accordingly to make a crown that will fit you the right way, keeping in mind that you need enough length to be able to wrap around your head and still be able to tie it! Once you have the lengths measured out, cut the pieces.

Step 2:

Take your leather strip and cut two slits on each end that about ¼ inch long going parallel to the shorter length of the strip. Push the end of one suede piece into the slit and tie it firmly on to the leather! Repeat on the other side.

Step 3:

Take your feathers and lay them out in the order you want to attach them. You can make them all the same height or put smaller ones at the ends, medium ones in between, and larger ones in the very center. You need enough to cover a good portion of the leather strip.

Step 4:

Taking your glue of choice, begin attaching the feathers onto the backside of the leather strip. Use a generous amount of glue on both the top and the bottom of each feather’s quill tip to ensure they will stay put. Let the glue dry and your feather crown is ready to wear!
