Feather In A Bottle DIY

Peacock feathers are a versatile way to spice up your home décor, and what easier way than with a few clear glass bottles and a simple arrangement? This Feather In A Bottle project is super quick and easy to create with some simple items you may already have!
Supplies you’ll need:
-3 large glass bottles with cork tops (can be found at a craft or thrift store, or be any old bottles you have lying around!)
-Natural peacock eye feathers
-Ivory bleached peacock sword feathers
-Scissors
-2 sheets of paper
Step 1:
Take a look at the length of your bottles. Measure the lengths of the feathers and trim off any excess if you need to; you want the feathers to fit nicely inside the bottle in one of two different ways. The first and easiest way, is to place them quill side at the bottom inside the jar so they are displayed topside up. This would require the feather to fit inside the bottle without the top touching the cork. The second way is to put the feather in the bottle quill side up so the softer feather hairs are at the bottom of the bottle. This way, the quill tip with be pushed into the cork so you want to leave enough room for that and make sure that when it is in place, the feather won’t be smashed up against the bottom of the bottle. So measure according to the size of the bottle and the way you would like the feather to be placed inside!
Step 2:
Place the feather inside the bottle! If you are doing it the first way, it’s as simple as placing the feather nicely inside and then arranging any wild feather hairs using your fingers, something like a pen or pencil, or by blowing on them to get them into place. Put the cork on the top.
If you are doing it the second way, you will need a sheet or two of paper. Take your paper and tightly roll it around the feather until it is a thin tube with the entire feather securely inside and the quill tip hanging out of the top. Insert it into the bottle while holding on to the quill tip and the top of the paper. Once there is about half an inch left to go, release your hold on the paper and slowly let it unravel. Once the feather is loose out of the paper, pull the paper out while still holding on to the quill tip. Push the quill tip into the cork top and then close the bottle. If the feather is not sitting exactly how you would like it too, try gently shaking the bottle to move it around or uncork it and use a pencil to help push the feather into place.
Repeat with the other bottles and create a nice trio! You are done!
