Minimalist Feather & Twine Wedding Invitation DIY

May 10th 2017

So you’re getting married! We know how exciting and also financially straining planning a wedding can be, so we thought we would bring you an easy, cost effective DIY for those looking for a simple yet beautiful wedding invite to send to their guests. It’s easy to make at home in as little as a few hours! You just need a few supplies (including some gorgeous guinea feathers) to get started!

Supplies you’ll need:

-White card stock

-A simple digital wedding invite template in the card size of your choosing (we created a simple one in a basic word processor)

-Natural guinea feathers

-Scissors

-Twine

Step 1:

Make sure your template has all of your invite details on it. We used a ¼ of a page size (or 5 ½ in. by 4 ¼ in.) for our cards and used a free card template we found online. We also made sure to leave about a 1 and a half inch gap between the writing at the top of the invite and the writing at the bottom so that the twine and feather would not cover any information.

Step 2:

Print your invites onto the white card stock and cut them out. You may want to print extras just in case there are any mishaps! (Bonus tip: if you are not the most tech-savvy person, ask a family member or friend who is, to help you with the template and printing!)

Step 3:

Cut a length of twine that is about 2 feet long. Begin wrapping it around the invitation’s center. You can do it a few times around until you reach the end of your twine. You want both twine ends to have an extra inch or two so that you can tie it off.

Step 4:

Do a double knot to securely attach the twine on the front of the invitation. Right before you are going to tighten the second knot, slide the quill tip of one or two guinea feathers into it and then fully tie the knot. Adjust the twine and the feathers until the invite looks best and then you are done!
