Our Etsy Feather Favorites & How You Can Start Making Your Own!

Lately we’ve had a couple Etsy inspired projects here on the blog for you guys because we can’t get enough of the amazing accessories and home décor items they have on their site! Etsy is a great market to sell your handmade goods on, and I know it can kind of be intimidating scrolling through the pages and pages of goods they have from all over the world, but it’s easier than it looks to get started with your own small craft business, especially when it comes to feather goods. We wanted to highlight and breakdown some popular feather products we have found on Etsy that you can recreate yourself with a few supplies and some craft feathers, to show you just how easy it is!
Feather Garlands
Cute home or party décor is very on trend right now, and feather garlands are an incredibly simple way to spice things up. These are simple, and although they are quick to make, people will purchase them so they can save time not having to make it themselves! This product was created by dipping guinea fowl feathers into gold paint and glitter, and stringing them onto some thin white string using a large upholstery needle. You can use any types or colors of large feathers to create a variety of different garlands!

Bohemian Hippie Headband
Festival fashion is a large market, especially in springtime. These hippie, wrap around headbands are a cute and easily crafted product; all you need is some suede chord, beads, guinea plumage feathers, and turkey t-base plumage feathers.

Feather Earrings
Who doesn’t love a beautiful pair of earrings? We have a tutorial a few posts back for you guys on how to make your own, and it’s really as simple as gathering a few feathers, some small beads, earring hooks, and end cap beads to assemble them. The feathers used here are silver gray and brown rooster hackle feathers!

Vintage 20's Headband
These are another popular product on Etsy, great for Halloween, costume parties, or vintage events, and they are similar to making a feather fascinator hair clip (also another popular product!). All you’ll need for this one is a needle and thread, hot glue, a beaded applique piece, and some feathers. Featured here are ivory peacock feathers and black ostrich feather trim!
