Round Feathered Mirror

Jul 24th 2017

Are you in the market for some new home décor? If you’re looking for a way to add some dimension and make your room feel larger, mirrors are a great option! Pair that with feathers to add a beautiful touch of soft texture to a room and you have a wonderful compliment to the rest of your home décor. This project is a quick way to create a unique piece using easily found supplies and goose feather trim that is a breeze to work with!

Supplies you’ll need:

-Framed medium sized round mirror

-Hot glue

-Glue gun

-Grey Goose Nagoire and Satinettes feather trim (1-2 yards)

-Medium and large grey embellishment pieces

-Scissors

Step 1:

Take your mirror and make sure the frame is clean and free from any residue! Grab your grey feather trim and measure around the length of the mirror frame’s edge to get an idea of how much trim you will need. At this point, you can also decide if you want one layer of feathers bordering the mirror, or two layers. Experiment with layering them until you decide what you like!

Step 2:

Plug in your hot glue gun and add a few drops of glue to the back of the end of the trim, placing it against the frame to attach it. If you are only doing one layer of feathers, make sure you place it close to the mirror’s edge, leaving a nice border to be able to add embellishments later on without covering the actual mirror surface itself! If you are doing two layers, start further back so you have enough space to attach the second layer without getting too close to the mirror surface.

Step 3:

Keep adding glue to the trim in small sections and attaching it to the frame, making sure to maintain the round shape of the frame! If needed, cut small slits into the bottom of the feather trim to help avoid awkward folds in the trim as you are going around. Just make sure to add extra glue in those spots if you decide to do that! Continue until you have covered the entire frame with the feather trim, and repeat if you are going to add a second layer of feathers. Let the hot glue dry.

Step 4:

Take your embellishments and begin to lay them next to or on top of the bottom edge of the feather trim to get an idea of where you would like to place them. Once you’ve done that, you can begin hot gluing them in place! Continue until the frame is covered and let dry. You are all set to hang your new feathered mirror!
