This listing is for 1 piece of half rooster pinwheel hackle feather pad dyed in ivory. These handmade half hackle plates (often called pinwheels) measure 10 x 5.5" and are made from stripped rooster hackle feathers that are arranged in half circle and that are glued onto a piece of fabric. There are beads attached to some of the stripped part of the feathers.

The hackle plates can be cut to any size and length to better suit your project. These feathers are all hand stripped therefore not all the feathers are in unison. Sometimes the feathers are bent from storage but they can easily be revived by steaming. The felt part might not match the color of the feathers all the time.

The stripping on the feathers is a unique look that comes from stripping approximately 3/4 of the lower part of the feather leaving the beautiful tips. Although this item is used most often in millinery, there are many other uses such as bridal, costuming, fashion accessories, floral design, mask making, pet toys and fly tying.
