Feathered Centerpiece Version 2

Feathered Centerpiece Version 2

Posted by Justin Quan on Nov 17th 2015

Hopefully everyone liked the first feather centerpiece. Well, we did too. So much so that we made 3 versions and here's the second of those.

Here's links to the feathers we used:

Macaw tail feathers

Pheasant Feathers

Duck Feathers

Reeves Pheasant wing feathers

Besides the feathers you'll need:

A small pumpkin

Floral foam, enough to fill your pumpkin as shown

Celophane or other plastic

A selection of flowers, dried branches or other decorative items

Carve your pumpkin and cut your floral foam to fit inside. It should be a tight fit. You want to have to crush it a bit when inserting. Cut your plastic so it will fully cover the foam when inside the pumpkin. Pumpkins aren't very good at holding water, so you need the plastic to contain the water and foam inside the pumpkin. This will also keep it from rotting too fast. Don't skip the plastic. Next squish the foam inside the plastic into the pumpkin and arrange your flowers and feathers as you like. Enjoy.
