Winter is a festive time of year. This holiday season delight your house with the trimmings of cheer and merriment. Nothing says Christmas is drawing near much like a decorated house. Many families have a tradition of putting up Christmas decorations the day after Thanksgiving and others wait until December 1. The great thing about the decorations is that they get to stay on display all month long.
If you are hosting a party during Christmas time, you may want to add a few extra decorations. To be sure that every corner of your house sings of good tidings check out some of these great Christmas party ideas.
Christmas Trees- Real or fake, large or small every Christmas party is incomplete without a tree. If your party will take place in multiple rooms such as the kitchen, dining room, and living area you may consider purchasing miniature trees for each room in addition to a full sized family tree. Many trees come pre-lit and create a delightful ambiance.
Feather Tree Topiary- Since craft feathers are a popular item they have been used in recent years in increasingly more holiday items. You may have seen bird like ornaments with rooster feathers decorating the tail, or maybe even clear glass globe ornaments with a single feather inside. A new item on the scene that incorporates various craft feathers is a feather cone shaped tree. You may buy one pre made or save on cost and purchase feathers wholesale to create your own. These small stature whimsical trees are great for table tops and mantles.
Garlands- Purchase pre-lit garlands for use over your mirrors, stair case banister or fireplace. Garlands can be inexpensively decorated by adding candy canes, ornaments and ribbon.
Cinnamon sticks and candles- Welcome guests with the familiar smell of cinnamon and gingerbread as they enter your holiday party. Make a potpourri and have lit candles in holiday scents placed around your home and in the bathroom.
Lit fireplace- A lit fireplace will keep a room warm and cozy. Especially in a house where party guests are coming and going heat will escape with every opening of the door. Keep your home warm and cozy by stoking a quiet fire.
Mistletoe-Any holiday adult party requires the presence of mistletoe. Often it is hung over the entry way and adds a touch of fun to any décor. If you have pets or small children and are nervous about the poisonous quality of this plant, you may purchase a faux mistletoe sphere to hang. It gives off the same effect and can be reused year after year. Try spicing it up a bit with a craft feather or two in the bunch.
