Trick Or Treat Pumpkin Porch Decoration

Aug 10th 2017

Who doesn’t love being the cool house on the block on Halloween? If you’re looking for a cute way to decorate your porch for trick-or-treaters, this DIY pumpkin porch decoration is a cheap and easy way project to make in an afternoon using foam pumpkins, some paint and letters, a fluffy marabou boa, and a plant pot or pedestal!

Supplies you’ll need:

-3 foam pumpkins

-A terra cotta pot or plant pedestal (check thrift stores or your local home improvement store)

-Hot glue

-Glue gun

-Scissors

-Bamboo skewers (2)

-Grey paint (if you are using a terra cotta pot)

-Paintbrush

-Black scrapbook letters (medium sized)

-Black marabou feather boa

Step 1:

If you are using a terra cotta pot or your pedestal is not a neutral darker color, paint it with a couple coats of grey paint and let it dry!

Step 2:

Grab your black scrapbook letters and pick out the letters you need to spell “Trick Or Treat”. One pumpkin will say “trick”, the next will say “or, and the third will say “treat”. Grab your hot glue gun and begin attaching the lettering to the center of each pumpkin. Let the glue dry.

Step 3:

Take your bamboo skewers and press one into the top of the pumpkin that says “treat”, through the stem and at least around 2 inches into the pumpkin. Press the bottom of the pumpkin that says “or” onto the other end of the skewer so that the pumpkins end up sitting on top of each other. You may need to trim the skewer down if it is too long. Push another skewer on to the top of the “or” pumpkin and then press the bottom of the “trick” pumpkin into that one. You should end up with all of your pumpkins stacked and attached to spell out “trick or treat”.

Step 4:

Grab your pot or pedestal and push the pumpkin stack into it so it is secured sitting in it. Take your black marabou feather boa and measure around the base of where the pumpkin and the pot meet. Cut the appropriate length and hot glue it into place! Repeat with the other spots where each pumpkin meets each other. Let it dry and you are done!
