White Christmas

White is In!

Wintertime is often depicted by twinkling lights, lighted pathways and shiny tinsel.  With all of the colorful, newly hung holiday decorations it is tempting to put on a bright Christmas sweater or to get decked out for December events in traditional red and green.  Break from tradition and don an outfit in the seasons crispest shade, white.

Winter seems to be such a clean time of year.  Dirty streets are covered in glistening newly fallen snow and the worldor at least avenues, seem to have been giving a refreshed lease on life.  Give your wardrobe a cleanse, as well, with refined white purchases.

How to incorporate white into your holiday style

Jackets- Nothing says winter has arrived much like a belted trench or pea coat.  Drop the look of dreariness by swapping out black outerwear with white.  With a crisp white coat you will be angelic as you spend an eventful evening ice-skating or strolling the decorated streets of your town.  Instead of a traditional fur neckline you could opt for a trendy feather trimmed jacket.  Look for a crisp coat with rooster feathers or ostrich feathers lining the collar or pockets to stay stylishly warm.

Scarf-One of the most popular winter items are scarves.  Women wear them from fall to spring to keep warm and as an accessory item.  Purchase a snuggly white scarf in cashmere or wool for very cold days, and white cotton for those warmer winter days.

Pants-Crisp white pants are chic and fitting for special occasions.  From skinny jeans to slacks, there are many options available to suit various body shapes.  You may need to shop around to find a pair that fits comfortably and is thick enough to hide undergarments.

Blouses- White silk blouses are a winter classic.  The satiny material will attract attention as well as reflect off of all those sparkling lights.  Purchase a blouse that may be tucked in for a pulled together, sophisticated look, appropriate for work or holiday festivities.

Jewelry- One of the most popular white items used in jewelry is pearls.  They are a classy design that has remained an elegant choice for women.  If you want to go a little less traditional you may purchase or make a pair of earrings with white craft feathers

With all of the white clothing and accessory options, be sure to play up color in other parts of your ensemble.  Choose one or two white clothing options to wear and then incorporate bold colors into your outfit.  Additional rouge, lip stick and eye-shadow will help draw out your features.
